Timothy

Image of a man standing with his arms behind his back. He is looking into the camera with a slight smile on his face. His hair is black and cut short, and he has a trimmed beard and mustache. He is wearing a tan prison uniform.

I began painting in 2015 as a way to fill my time while incarcerated. Since then, painting has become more than just a hobby. By painting nature scenes, I'm able to mentally escape prison, imagining I'm elsewhere. Painting has also led me to become a better person, and enabled me to become employed as one of the prison's three muralists. Supporting my art allows me to build a better quality of life while in prison, and will help me be financially stable when I'm released.

Toby

A picture of Toby holding a painting. He has close shaved hair, a 5 o'clock shadow, and tattoos on his arms. He's wearing a white shirt and is holding a painting of a while with the text "graduate 2022 congrats!".Hello, my name is Toby. I have been incarcerated since 2011. I noticed very quickly that you can either waste your time in depression, or you can spend  your time wisely, looking for God-given talents that you haven’t yet discovered. I used to be an immature man and now I am a man of faith. I have learned to speak Spanish and play the guitar behind bars. I began painting in 2019. I really enjoy capturing the colors in my art work for others to see. I have also painted some murals to beautify the walls here inside the prison. Even though I am incarcerated, I am a happy-go-lucky guy. I would like to bring joy and a smile into your life with one of my paintings.
